The piano is present in many places, whether at home as a decoration without necessarily knowing how to play it, or in the movies with, for example, the very famous "Harry Potter" music or the song "Conquest of paradise" from the film "1492, Christophe Colomb".
Today I take you to Japan, to present you Your lie in april, a manga making us rediscover several famous pieces of classical music from Chopin, Beethoven, Mozart, Debussy and others.

We follow the story of Arima Kosei, a young pianist winning all the piano competitions, pushed by an extremely demanding and perfectionist mother. She made him pass competition after competition, making him famous and very gifted as a pianist. When she gets sick, she forces him to repeat all day long and doesn't hesitate to be violent. He was just playing to make her happy but it didn't work...
When his mother passed away from her disease, he could no longer hear the sound of the piano and stopped practicing totally.
Two years later, he met Kaori Miyazono, a fearless violinist with a style of playing completely opposite to his own. She lets herself be transported by the music, she feels it and interprets the works in a very free way. She lets her feelings be expressed through the music contrary to Arima who followed exactly everything that was written on the score.

Swept away by the young violinist's passion and enthusiasm for life, he follows her to her competitions, which will make her want to try the piano again and overcome his past shock.
I really liked the musical background of this manga and the messages it conveys : the music, and not only the piano, can finally be a liberation, the joy of living, the importance of enjoying the present moment and friendship.

I like this manga
